  • Something that`s baffling me...

There`s something that me and a friend noticed the other day in our quest to prevent cities from being built. Above the Palace improvement in the rules.txt, there is an improvement called "Nothing". It`s icon can`t be changed, and it doesn`t appear to have any function in the game. Can anybody shed any light?

    Paul,

'Nothing' doesn't have an icon. It's my understanding that when there's nothing to be constructed in the build options (and capitalization is not an option), then shield distribution goes towards building the 'nothing' improvement, that offers no benefit in its own right. It's like the build list's "Future Tech" without the score bonus.

So you mean that when all avaliable options in the list are constructed, the game switches to this? Is it doing this when you`re putting resources towards something that`s already being built?

Because "Nothing" has a build cost of 10 shields, I would imagine it just builds to 10 and then resets. Whether or not a city that adds four shields per turn for instance can use their four or eight shields that were accrued in the immediately prior turn(s) to a newly available unit or improvement, I'm not sure.
